Sammy Cervantes hopes his hard work pays off in the form of a Division I scholarship.

The 6-foot-1, 270-pound defensive tackle from Imperial (Calif.) High earned all-league honors as a junior after recording 40 tackles and nine quarterback sacks.

Stanford, Colorado, Washington, San Diego State and Air Force are some of the programs that have shown early interest in Cervantes.

Cervantes attended the Buffaloes' Junior Day event last Saturday.
