Week six welcomes back plenty of top teams fresh from byes, including the NCP Game of the Week featuring Top 10 ranked Folsom and Oak Ridge. Other games of significance this week include Bellarmine-Mitty, Yuba City-Inderkum and Franklin-Grant.

Monte Vista (4-1) at California (5-0) 7:00 PM: Coming off a 36-7 win at Foothill-Pleasanton, California has ascended to the No. 3 among East Bay area teams and one of two unbeaten teams in the East Bay Athletic League. Senior Karris Johnson is one of the top backs in the area in adding three more scores against the Falcons to help support a good defensive effort. Monte Vista fell to Foothill 21-14 two weeks ago, but responded to beat Granada 48-21. The Mustangs' defense had three sacks and three turnovers and needs a win to stay in the league race. Cal gets the home win. California wins 34-24

Yuba City (4-1) at Inderkum (4-1) 7:00 PM: The league opener may very well decide the Tri-County Athletic League with Inderkum holding the best win of the two programs against Pleasant Grove this year. The Tigers gave up 266 passing yards to Terra Nova last week in being tied after three quarters before winning 34-28. This week, they will have to contend with the running game of Yuba City. Nate Van Dusen has 630 yards and nine touchdowns for the Honkers, who have just lost to Top 10 ranked Placer in a shootout. Making plays in the passing game will be the decider in this one. Inderkum wins 35-24

#3 Bellarmine (3-1) at Mitty (3-1) 7:00 PM: Coming off a tough loss to Serra, Mitty must rebound quickly with No. 3 Bellarmine coming in. The Monarchs have wins over Palo Alto and Los Gatos on their resume and have scored at least 21 points in each game. They are 2-1 in games decided by single digits. Bellarmine lost its opener to De La Salle, but has since won three in a row. The Bells' defense has given up 17 total points in three wins, but faces their toughest test since the season opener. With both teams better suited to play from ahead, getting off to a good start will be important. Bellarmine wins 28-24

St. Ignatius (3-1) vs. Sacred Heart Cathedral (1-3) 7:00 PM: The annual Bruce-Mahoney game features teams with opposite records and a rematch of the Central Coast Section Division III title game. Elijah Dale had 213 yards and two touchdowns to lead a 42-28 victory at Valley Christian-San Jose as St. Ignatius picked up an impressive West Catholic Athletic League opening win. The Wildcats' only loss this year was to then NCP Top 20 ranked Marin Catholic in a game which they led in the second half. Sacred Heart Cathedral's lone win came against Terra Nova and have lost to Campolindo, Bishop O'Dowd and St. Francis-Mountain View. In the loss to St. Francis, Sacred Heart Cathedral was shut out and held to just more than two yards per carry. St. Ignatius wins 28-14

#6 Folsom (5-0) at #8 Oak Ridge (5-0) 7:15 PM Game of the Week: The opener of the Delta River League is sure to be a passing showcase with Jake Browning of Folsom and Jason Samuels of Oak Ridge. Browning spreads the ball around well, but his top target is Phillip Carter with 492 yards and eight touchdowns. Oak Ridge has wins over Grant and Vacaville behind steady play from Samuels and his top option Byron Spain (285 yards and six touchdowns). Both defenses have the potential to make key stops in supporting their offenses with turnovers being a key factor to watch in this one. Folsom's spread offense gets the job done in this one. Folsom wins 42-38

#4 Franklin-Elk Grove (5-0) at Grant (2-3) 7:15 PM: Sitting at 5-0, the Wildcats performed well in the non-league with heavy expectations on them. Steven Rogers has rushed for 374 yards and five touchdowns with Joey Banks leading the defense with 59 tackles. Trevon Lampley and Marcus Green each have three interceptions. Grant comes in with a 2-3 mark after beating Del Oro 31-30. Running back Marquise Carter-Petit has had a good season so far with 626 yards and eight touchdowns while the team gets a much needed bye coming into this one. Franklin stays unbeaten, but it's a closer than the rankings would make you believe. Franklin wins 24-14

Enterprise (4-1) at Paradise (4-1) 7:30 PM: Paradise is coming off a convincing home win over Foothill-Palo Cedro and will remain at home to play Enterprise this week. Junior fullback Jonathan Dixon rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Foothill, which was a rematch of the 2011 Northern Section Division I finals. The Bobcats have won their two league games 101-31. Enterprise was able to hold off Chico 35-34 last week entering a telling two week stretch against Paradise and Foothill. The Hornets have a 45-21 win over Del Campo and their only loss was a three point defeat to undefeated West Valley. Home field advantage is the difference for Paradise. Paradise wins 35-28

#11 Buhach Colony (3-2) vs. Pitman (5-0) 7:30 PM at Atwater High School: The Thunder were idle this past week after losing 35-34 to Serra in a Thursday night game. Joe Marquez has been efficient at quarterback to support the running game with seven touchdowns and no interceptions. The defense has given up at least 24 points in four of five games thus far. Pitman is 5-0 with only a 35-31 win over Enochs being decided by single digits, but its first five opponents are a combined 9-17. Buhach Colony has been tested by the likes of San Ramon Valley, Clovis North and Serra and uses this big game experience for victory. Buhach Colony wins 27-21

Rocklin (2-3) at Nevada Union (3-2) 7:30 PM: The Miners finished a tough non-league slate 3-2 with losses to Elk Grove and Pleasant Grove. They have a good passing threat with quarterback Kyle Cota to add balance to a powerful wing-T running game. The defense is a fast group, led by Boise State commit Tanner Vallejo. Rocklin is a dangerous 2-3 squad coming off a win over previously ranked Inderkum. The Thunder have received good quarterback play from Daniel Kniffin and his injury replacement Logan Webb. Rocklin is also good up front on defense. There isn't an easy game in the Sierra Foothill League, but Nevada Union gets the win. Nevada Union wins 31-27

Wilcox (3-1) at Los Gatos (2-2) 7:30 PM: A good league matchup in the CCS, Wilcox comes in on a three game winning streak after dropping its opener to Serra. Delshawn Mitchell and Roland Luke have combined for 974 yards and 11 touchdowns with the offense scoring at least 34 points in each of the three wins this year. Los Gatos has tough losses to Mitty and Oak Grove, but is still ranked in the Division II state bowl rankings. William Le had 16 carries for 166 yards and five touchdowns in the 48-7 win over Homestead this past week. Both teams are off to 1-0 starts in league with Los Gatos gaining the upper hand with a key win this week. Los Gatos wins 28-21
