Palo Alto dominated Wilcox in a 38-12 victory on Friday night. Paly quarterback Keller Chryst threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns in addition to a rushing score.

Wilcox took an early lead when junior running back Delshawn Mitchell ran for a 12 yard touchdown at the end of the first quarter, but Palo Alto was in control for the rest of the game. Palo Alto scored on the ensuing drive and never looked back. The Vikings scored 31 unanswered points en route to an impressive road win.

The Viking defense forced five three-and-outs on the night, and limited Wilcox to only nine first downs throughout the entire game. Palo Alto had a balanced offensive attack with Chryst along with running backs Matt Tolbert and Justin Gates-Mouton. Tolbert had 80 yards on 23 carries, while Gates-Mouton had 106 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Tolbert was the bigger, between the tackles runner while Gates-Mouton was the elusive, speedy back.

Tight end De'Antay Williams was Chryst's favorite target on the night, and had five catches for 60 yards and two touchdowns.

For Wilcox, Mitchell and Roland Luke made up most of the Charger offense. The duo combined for 156 rushing yards and both of the Wilcox touchdowns in addition to four catches for 17 yards. The rest of the team combined for 30 yards on the offensive side of the ball.

With the victory, Palo Alto improved to 4-2 overall and a 2-1 mark in De Anza League play. The Vikings are still contenders for a title, but will need some help along the way as Milpitas and Los Gatos are both 3-0. Next week will be another big game for Paly, as they take on Los Gatos at home.

As for Wilcox, they fall to 3-3 and a 1-2 mark in league play. They will have to face a tough Milpitas team on the road next week, and will need a win to keep their title hopes alive.

This was a good test for both teams, and Palo Alto proved that they are still contenders for a league title.
