De La Salle and Folsom have rematches ahead of them in their respective section finals. The Spartans will face California on Saturday night at Dublin High School after De La Salle won the regular season finale 55-0. Folsom will take on Delta River League foe Oak Ridge following a 35-0 regular season win in Folsom. They will play again on Saturday night at Sacramento State.

Serra and Mitty will square off in the Central Coast Section Open Division finals on Friday night at San Jose City College.

El Cerrito jumps back into rankings

After starting the year in the Top 10 of the NCP rankings, El Cerrito is back in the rankings at No. 12 after beating previously unbeaten Campolindo 49-34. The Gauchos have five seniors with scholarship offers, led by BCS bound players Adarius Pickett, Derik Calhoun and Jalen Harvey. The trio accounted for five touchdowns, including three by Harvey.

El Cerrito will make a second straight appearance in the North Coast section Division III title game against defending champion Marin Catholic, which won the 2012 championship game 31-28 at Pinole Valley High School. This year's game will be played at Burrell Field in San Leandro.

Balanced playing field in NorCal

With just three weeks left in the season, there is a balance among the top three sections in the region. The NCS leads the way with eight teams, followed by the Sac-Joaquin Section with seven. The CCS has five teams in the Top 20 all from the West Catholic Athletic League.

Six of the top 10 teams are from the SJS, including three teams from the Delta River League and a pair of schools from the Sierra Foothill League.
