A huge crowd packed the stands to watch Spartan sophomore pitcher
Podany was commanding the zone throughout the game for the Grizzlies as he pitched to contact for almost all of his outs. Improving his record to 2-0 on the season, the junior standout came into the game with a 1.75 era, he has now given up 11 hits in four appearances.
Chico State commit Cameron Santos went 2-for-2 with a walk and two singles, he added a stolen base in the first inning as he would score late in the inning to put the Grizzlies up 1-0. Hooper left the game for De La Salle in the fourth inning as he gave up three runs and three walks on four hits. The Spartan offense was able to put the ball into play, but they didn't have anything to show for it in the end as they finished the game 0-for-21 from the plate.
Senior Chris Williams thought he hit a double in the 4th inning, but it was called a catch in centerfield, the diving catch kept the perfect game alive.
The Grizzlies have started the season very impressive as they remain undefeated and they are on a seven game winning streak. Not only have they now beaten De La Salle, but they have taken down a great Campolindo team.
