Late scoring fuels SRV
Austin Piscotty.The Amador Valley Dons traveled to San Ramon Valley High School on Thursday afternoon to play the Wolves in a make-up game that had been rained out on Wednesday. The Dons took the first lead of the game, going up 1-0 in the fourth inning off of a hit from senior outfielder Zach Lander, which drove in senior
San Ramon wouldn't fret as they scored one run in the fifth and three in the sixth, going on to win by a score of 4-1.
The Wolves got a complete game pitching performance from Santa Clara commit Alex Barden. The left handed senior gave up just seven hits and a walk, recording no earned runs, with five strikeouts on seven innings pitched.
Most of the damage on offense was done by infielders Ryan Nearon and Nick Poirier, who delivered three of the four runs scored by the Wolves. The senior Nearon, went 1-for-1 from the plate, driving in two runs, while the University of Santa Barbara commit, Poirier went 2-for-3, driving in a run and walking once.
As for Amador Valley, they got a decent start from senior Jordan Ott, who pitched five and a third innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out four. Lander was the bright spot on offense for the Dons as he went 3-for-3 and drove in Amador's only run of the game.
With this being the first league game, San Ramon Valley improves to a 5-2 record as they are now 1-0 in league. The Wolves will try for their second win in league play on Friday as they take on Granada. Amador Valley will look to bounce back and win their first league game in the East Bay Athletic League on Friday as they host Livermore.
