No-Hitters fly in WCAL

A pair of no-hitters highlighted the Tuesday West Catholic Athletic League slate with a complete game effort from Tyler Deason. Also, Campolindo takes its first league loss.

Deason twirled a no-hitter in St. Francis' 2-0 win over Bellarmine despite tallying just three hits. The win keeps the Lancers a game up on Mitty and Valley Christian-San Jose heading into Friday's matchup with the Warriors. Corby Punian was dealt the loss for the Bells.

Mitty added a no-hitter of its own as Kris Bubic and two other pitchers combined for the effort in a 12-0 win over Sacred Heart Cathedral. The junior Stanford commit struck out 10 hitters in five innings.

Elk Grove emphatically won the regular season series with Franklin-Elk Grove after beating the Wildcats 11-3 on Tuesday. Elk Grove led 11-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh behind 6.1 innings of one hit ball from Ty Madrigal. Derek Hill went 4-for-4 with three RBI. Carlos Moseley and Brooks Day each added two RBI. Elk Grove defeated Franklin 6-5 in nine innings on Monday.

Rocklin continues to lead the Sierra Foothill League at 8-3 after splitting the first two games with Woodcreek. Following the series finale on Thursday, Rocklin ends the year against Granite Bay (5-5). Del Oro is a game back of Rocklin at 7-4. The Golden Eagles beat Granite Bay 4-3 behind a complete game from Kyle Yamada.

Coming in on a 20 game league winning streak, Vista del Lago has lost two out of three to Cosumnes Oaks dating back to Friday. The latest result was 2-1 loss. Cosumnes Oaks starter Donovan Palma threw a complete game one hitter with six strikeouts. This would be the first winning season in school history for the Wolf Pack.

Campolindo was handed its first league loss to Alhambra (6-4). Jon Pacha picked up the win for the Bulldogs, which has won three in a row in evening its Diablo Foothill League record. The loss snapped a 19 game league winning streak for the No. 6 Cougars.

After giving up the game's first two runs, San Marin came back to beat Marin County Athletic League leader Drake (3-2). Drake remains a game up on Tamalpais and Justin-Siena with four games remaining in the regular season.

Jake Corn picked up another win in an 8-1 victory against Kimball. The Oregon signee gave up six hits and a walk over six innings with nine strikeouts. On the year, the lefty is 6-1 with a 0.80 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched.
