Cal Poly gets rising forward

Starting the summer unranked, Anderson's Katie Nunnelley quickly showed she wouldn't stay that way. The 6-foot-1 prospect had a good summer with JBS Adidas Elite 2015 and recently committed to Cal Poly.

Nunnelley picked up an offer from Cal Poly at the end of July and committed shortly thereafter. She joins Arizona's Dyesha Stahley and Nevada's Breezi Holt, who played with Cal Stars Nike Elite this summer, as 2015 commitments for the Mustangs.

"Katie played at a very high level this summer. Katie is a very athletic four man that has multiple skills. She can shoot the mid-range jump shot, put the ball on the floor and rebound the ball out of her area. Great pick for Cal Poly. Great for Anderson High," JBS director Sean Chambers said.

She has improved her agility over the last year to play away from the basket. She runs the floor well, finishes well around the basket and plays with good energy. As a junior, she averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds per game for the Cubs. She is the seventh commit in the 2015 class.

Nunnelley gives Cal Poly its third class in the last four years to bring in a Northern California prospect. The Mustangs went 18-14 last year after making the NCAA tournament in 2013.
