Monarchs top Week 8 Rankings
Mater Dei is the number one team for the seventh week as we enter the eighth full week of football in Southern California.
Here are the rankings of our Week 8 rankings (prior week’s rankings in parentheses).
1. Mater Dei (7-0) (1)
The Monarchs beat St. John Bosco 31-21. J.T. Daniels threw for 326 yards and 2 touchdowns and added 91 yards on the ground. Glenn Harper had 66 rushing yards and a score. Amon-Ra St. Brown had 208 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.
They host JSerra at Santa Ana Stadium on Friday.
2. St. John Bosco (5-2) (2)
The Braves lost to Mater Dei 31-21. DJ Uiagalelei had 257 passing yards and 2 touchdowns. Keith Savages had a rushing touchdown. Joshua Delgado had 105 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Colby Bowman had 73 receiving yards and a score.
They play Santa Margarita at El Camino College on Friday.
3. Corona Centennial (5-1) (3)
The Huskies beat Santiago 61-14. Tanner McKee had 308 passing yards and 3 scores and added 54 rushing yards and a touchdown. Octavio Cortes had 3 rushing touchdowns while Gary Bryant had 120 receiving yards and a touchdown. Chris Venable had 2 receiving touchdowns.
They host Corona on Friday.
4. Mission Viejo (8-0) (4)
The Diablos beat San Juan Hills 35-7. Joey Yellen threw for 157 yards and a touchdown. Olaijah Griffin had 75 receiving yards and a touchdown. Akili Arnold had 131 rushing yards and a touchdown. Shaun Javier-Rhodes had 2 rushing touchdowns.
They play at Trabuco Hills on Friday.
5. Chaminade (6-1) (5)
The Eagles beat Loyola 37-14. Ryan Stevens threw for 239 yards and 4 touchdowns. Stanford commit Michael Wilson had 115 receiving yards and 2 scores.
They host Alemany on Friday.
6. Long Beach Poly (6-1) (6)
The Jackrabbits beat Compton 57-10. Michael Mauai had 145 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Griffin Paler and Jacob Garcia each threw for 2 touchdowns. Darius Kryger had 2 receiving touchdowns while Kejuan Markham added one of his own.
They host Jordan on Friday.
7. JSerra (7-0) (7)
The Lions beat Orange Lutheran 52-21. Matt Robinson threw for 3 scores and added a rushing touchdown. Al Fisher had a rushing touchdown.
They play at Mater Dei on Friday.
8. San Clemente (7-0) (8)
The Tritons beat Tesoro 30-14. Brendan Costello threw for 225 yards and had touchdowns on the ground and in the air. Austin Whitsett had 139 rushing yards and a score. Riley Croft had 14 tackles on defense.
They play at San Juan Hills on Friday.
9. Upland (7-0) (9)
The Highlanders beat Damien 49-8. David Baldwin threw for 138 yards and a touchdown. Cameron Davis had 129 rushing yards and 3 scores, while Kyle Jones added 129 yards on the ground and 2 scores.
They host Chino Hills on Friday.
10. Rancho Cucamonga (6-1) (10)
The Cougars beat Los Osos 48-0. Nick Acosta threw for 225 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sean Dollars had 80 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns along with 115 receiving yards and a score. Silas Bolden had 2 receiving touchdowns.
