Tisha McAfee/Bobcats AAU: Heart of the CPT

What's real, can never die, and lives on forever? Love. And that's what Tisha McAfee has for her players. She shares her skill with her Carson based AAU hoop squad, the Bobcats.

Who is coach McAfee, why should YOU care?

She's an intelligent, strong African American woman, full of hoops knowledge. She's that "ride or die" mentor. Kids don't just play for her, they're also fam for each other.

Let Tisha speak on it, "My goal is and will always be growth, growth to the next level. At this point if I am growing their talents I am enabling their success."

Her words mean more than bouncing balls or AAU success. That's real, it'll never go away because in 10 years, like when these boys will grow to men, the memories will last a lifetime.

The Bobcats play NCAA certified comp, they have talent. But they have even more: Heart. #more than hoop dreams

Who plays for the Bobcats? Aaron Jelks, Rayshaun Owens, Kylan Wallace, Keyaun Sterling, Eduardo Murillo, Shea Edington Kester, Giovanni Sanchez. These guys, they already know.

Me, Erik Woods, some of my favorite coaches are females. Only a few women coaches get props though.

Pat Summit did because Tennessee won so often at the college level. Personally, I like Becky Hammond, coach Pop’s assistant with the NBA Spurs. She's real to the men on her team, skillful, deserving of respect. And so is coach Tisha.

Tisha McAfee is not an NBA coach, she doesn't draw that kind of salary, but she goes at it as hard at B-Hammond.

Coach McAfee sets up tutoring time and is there to listen to her players. Just look at the story photos (below), photos full of togetherness. Can't fake in the photos, Tisha is the truth to her players.

#believe

Speaking of The Truth, I interviewed Paul Pierce at Inglewood High. The kids at his camps have love for him, the love that the Bobcats have for coach Tisha. She reminds me so much of double P, they're both "real ones" in a world filled with too many fake ones.

Listen to coach Tisha's philosophy, "I build memories that last and friendships that last. Basketball will come and go, but what we have will last a lifetime: Family. I love these boys as my own and I will do anything in my power for them!"

Yep, that's what today's youth needs, someone like Tisha in their life.

I'm really amazed by Tisha's mental approach,as she puts it, "The part of me being a coach is true, and if you ask any one of my kids they know they can come to me with anything. I will always have a listening ear."

I appreciate T-McAfee, I'm sure her kids appreciate her also. On a fun note, what else do I like about coach McAfee? her dope sneaker game. I know because I'm trying to get on that Nick Young and PJ Tucker next next level.

She says about sneakers, "Yes, I'm a sneaker head, true sneaker head."

I see coach McAfee wearing blue Jordan 9s (see top photo), Carolina Blue, my fav color, that's sneaker love.

But this story is about a woman's love to coach, and that's more dope than sneaker game.

Appreciate you Tisha!
