Young bull...you seek riches and fame.....that baller's life .....you want at that Ray Allen ish. Yup, young ballers want to be ranked top dog, but is being #1 a blessing or a curse?
Youngsters want to bounce to the L like Lonzo Ball and make those ends, cats like Lavar want to Be Big Ballers, drive that Mercedes Benz.
But as our man Ice Cube says......you better check yo-self, before you wreck yo-self.
E-Woods, why a story on Public Enemy, why on J-Shuttlesworth, what's this story really about?
He Got Game isn't just a movie brotha, it's the ‘Chosen Few”, about the “Chosen One.” I've been blessed to know a few young bulls that made it to the L.
NCAA colleges make like 1.4 million dollars for every game they win in the NCAA tourney dance I hear, that's why it's true madness I fear.
On the low low, coaches are looking for Big Mac prospects, they want to stuff dead Benjamins in players’ pockets. So those same coaches and colleges keep bulging, make their pockets.
Let my guy Chuck D explain:
"What does it all mean
All this ish I'm seein
Human beings scream vocal javelins Signs of a local brotha unravelin
My wandering
Got my behind wondering"
Money you say
E-Woods gets "under the table" to sign Jesus, can it be, he won't play for your team because he's just a friend, homie how many cardboard coaches tryin make those ends?
Flava Flav, help us understand:
"Fake men in suits
Don't have to jump
Still there 1001 ways to lose wit the shoes."
Now do you see? Being that incredibly talented baller can flip your script. Will your friends love you for just you being YOU, or will they love you because you're that new NEW?
I can't say the names of Jesus Shuttlesworth ballers I've known, you won't catch me saying their names "out my mouth."
All kids are real to me, whether they be J-Shuttlesworth or non college ballers living free. All prospects are children of God, they just need love, just let them be.
The point is, if you're a top baller, you need to keep your circle tight. I've heard of and seen kids playing in Vegas saying, “Coach please pay me or I'll play for the other team”, and then you'll be on your knees. #real talk, $ talks
Tell em P.E.
"Got the sick
Missin chips and championships
Whats love got to do
Wit what you got
Don't let a win get to your head
Or a loss to your heart."
I see kids and prospects all the time, living that super ballers life, and they're some of the loneliest kids ever because who can they really trust? Really?
Denzel Washington played the dad of a #1 prospect in the movie He Got Game. He tried to get his son, Jesus, to sign with Big State to get out of his prison sentence. Being that top dog is joy. But it's sadness sometimes also.
It's both and neither, it's crazy and can turn a baller’s fam on each other for one word: Greed.
Go ahead and shoot for being a baller's baller. Just know you might well be popular and lonely...all at the same time.
