Kamren "Fab" Fabiculanan: One To Watch

I had this youngster playing for me in 6th grade in 2002 - he was as great at hoops as he was at football, his name?

Chris Owusu, who played wide receiver for Oaks Christian, Stanford, and the NFL.

Kamren Fabiculanan reminds me so much of Chris - polite with his manners, impeccable family, but he has that smoldering driven look in his eyes that says "I will help my team win this game."

Chris Owusu caught passes, Kamren catches receivers who catch passes, yet both are dope at what they do.

Let Kamren speak on it for himself, "Playing corner, we have a different type of swagger on the field. It's more competitive because you could play 50 good plays and no one will see you, but as soon as you mess up on 1 play, everyone will notice it.

“My goal to improve is on my speed and overall technique. I've gotten bigger, faster, and stronger since my freshman year but there's a lot more work to be put in. Going to LA every weekend, it's made a big impact on me mentally. You have to go in there with an attitude and confidence because the competition is more diverse than what you see in the 805."

Now do you see what I see in Kamren? I don't just see this kid play, I feel his game. I was watching

Kentucky's De'Aaron Fox play basketball in person a few days ago. Fox is a kid that might be a top 3 pick in the NBA; I felt his game as well.

Kamren goes to Proactive Sports performance for his strength and conditioning; Premium sports LA is his club 7v7 team that develops his craft.

ReGen is the name of the place that Kam goes to one day a week for recovery.

Who’s the best football player I ever played with, or ever seen?

My fellow Ventura High Cougar Eric "Body Rocker" Turner in 1986, of UCLA and NFL fame. I see flashes of E-Turner when I see Kamren play, that's how much I revere this young Westlake Warrior.

Kamren got offers as a freshman from San Jose St and BYU.

Kamren speaks more on his future goals, "In 8 years I see myself in the NFL or with a degree getting a good job. I play video games (2k) and I like to surf and just chill with family and friends. What drives me is Family."

Now do you see what I see? Kamren is as dope a person as he is a player.

One of Kamren's coaches, Tim Kirksey, says this of his player, "A coach asked me to describe Kamren a couple of weeks ago and the word pride shot into my head immediately. He has an unmatched pride for his family that comes out in everything he does.

“His competitive spirit is fueled by his family’s pride for him. That understanding of family is really what makes Kamren a special football player. He is an extreme talent that will play at the highest level in the future, as he has a unique combination of skill, versatility, and competitive drive.

“Today he is helping to change a culture at Westlake that will be rooted in family values and commitment to his brothers on the field. He lives those values everyday. The amount of time he spends developing his craft is admirable.

“His commitment to his family and team is honorable. And the man he is becoming is exceptional. Can't wait to see the father and husband he will be in the future."

Now do you see what I see?

Kamren is that humble kid, determined just like Chris Owusu. He's only a sophomore and his book is unwritten, yet it will be exciting for us all to sit back and see the pages unfold in his junior and senior year.
