Get to know EJ Jackson, it isn't just meeting a basketball guard or a running back, it's knowing a young person set ablaze on fire with ambition and talent. Things you can't put into words, but amazing all the same.

This extremely strong and athletic prospect plays for Serra High School, and we give a shout out to former coaching great Dwan Hurt. RIP from EJ and myself because D-Hurt helped shape EJ.

Serra High now houses a budding two-way star, maybe the best dual sport athlete in his class. EJ wants to be on both the gridiron and hardwood, "I've been feeling competitive since age 3. I hate to lose, I just have this feeling inside me to show I'm 'that guy.' On the football field, I feel free and in control. I'll be smart and juke where necessary, blast through where it's right. I'm just an athlete that wants to show I'm a player."

EJ sees that his football instincts help him in hoops. I saw this first hand on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer. Hear EJ speak on it, "I'll take the contact in a basketball game and my football experience kicks in. I try to stay aggressive, power through lay ups, whatever is needed."

E-Jackson has tremendous mentors guiding him toward success, like former NBA All Star Jerry Stackhouse, who says, "EJ is family. Faye, his mom, is like my sister so I've embraced being his mentor and I'm really proud of how he's grown as basketball player and as a student.

“He's a tough defender with an uncanny ability to handle the ball and make plays for others. He's improved in each of the past 3 seasons and I expect with his work ethic and sheer toughness that he'll continue to trend on that path."

Another former NBA player is helping EJ, Pooh Jeter, also out of Serra High. Pooh is high on EJ and you can tell he truly cares and nurtures this young bull as he states, "EJ, he's really impressive in different ways. I'm working with him to unlock his overall potential, trying to remind him that being under 6 feet won't stop him from being great.

Tyus Edney and myself came out of LA to play in the NBA even though we're both under 6 feet. Actually, EJ plays like he's 6-8, he just plays big."
